Kansas City Board Game Podcast Asks What Did You Play This Week?

As a family of geeks, we often looked for family-friendly activities that helped up our geek cred as parents. We even created a “cultural literacy” checkoff list spreadsheet to make sure our kids were well-educated on geek culture. Most of the games we played were of the video variety, but we played our share of Pokemon Master and the Harry Potter Mystery At Hogwarts Game. If you’re looking for more family-friendly board games, you should check out the What Did You Play This Week podcast. They’ll hook you up with those, and more! Read on!

What Did You Play This Week Podcast

What is your name and what is your role in the podcast?

How would you describe your podcast?

We are a podcast about board games, we do lean more towards the family side of board gaming but we do talk about a wide variety of games and the people we play with.

When was the podcast launched?

Our first “official” episode was December 1, 2014.

What made you want to launch the podcast?

The podcast was launched because I was tired of writing out summations of what we’ve been playing. I had been toying with doing an audio version of it and I really always liked the What We’ve Been Playing segments of podcasts so we went for it. But the show has grown into so much more than that. And this was by far not the easier way to do things.

How often do you publish shows?

Weekly, Sunday evenings.

What do you discuss in your shows?

We are ultimately a variety show with 4-5 contributors a week, we discuss a wide variety of board gaming topics, what’s been on our table, we do reviews, we do interviews with gamers, designers, publishers and anyone else in the board gaming hobby who would like to talk to us.

How long are your shows?

Well, we’re shooting for an hour and a half, but recently our shows have been in the over 2 hour range.

What do you love about podcasting/your show?

I’ve gotten to meet a lot of really great folks through the show, from the contributors to our interviews, it’s been a really great way to meet others that share our hobby.

What podcasts do you enjoy listening to?

Hmmm, great question, one that is best answered over on our blog. 🙂 https://wdyptw.wordpress.com/2016/04/17/podcasts-that-i-listen-to-enjoy/

What future plans lay ahead for your show?

We are just going to keep growing and putting out bigger and better content and have fun doing so.

Where can someone find more information about your podcast?

Another one that is best handled by linking to the blog as there are soooo many ways to find us. 🙂 https://wdyptw.wordpress.com/where-to-find-us/

Anything else you’d like to share?

I do always like to thank the contributors to the show, they really are doing this only because they enjoy sharing their experiences with other gamers. And also the listeners, it means the world to us that you take time out of your busy lives to let us talk to you for a bit every week.
